The Yeshe De project was created to preserve and protect the endangered Tibetan Buddhist literary heritage. Named after a legendary Tibetan translator, Yeshe De collects, compiles, prints and distributes the sacred text of Tibet to those who need it most - the lamas, monks, nuns and lay practitioners who safeguard the future of this extraordinary tradition.
The Yeshe-De Project was founded in 1983 by Tarthang Tulku, a Tibetan lama who, like many other masters of Tibetan Buddhism, had to leave his country and take refuge in the West. Fully aware of the value of Tibet's Buddhist heritage and the sacrifices Tibetans made to protect it, Tarthang Tulku set up a publishing house and start a print shop, beginning the greatest publishing project of our time.
Thus began a large-scale conservation effort that would finally breathe new life into the fragile Tibetan heritage. “Yeshe De” means “fields of knowledge”.
A not-for-profit organization committed to replicating rare Buddhist teachings, our volunteers work in teams throughout the year to make Tibetan books and prayer wheels to be donated at the World Ceremony for World Peace in Bodh Gaya, India–– the site of the Buddha Enlightenment.
Our team is motivated by knowing that we make a difference by impacting the lives of people across the planet, preserving teachings of love and light. We give our time and energy freely to save Tibetan texts that contain teachings that would otherwise be lost.
The International Nyingma Centers - Germany, Brazil (São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Porto Alegre), Israel and Holland - have the opportunity to participate in these editorial projects and contribute to the preservation of these teachings that spread a seed of peace and harmony among us all and in the future generations of the planet, and generates blessings and merits for all.
